Responsible design

Made to last is made responsibly.

We are not here to wave certificates. We believe the most responsible thing furniture can do is last, so we choose better materials, make pieces meant to be kept, and build them with people who know their craft.

Our view

The longest life is the lowest impact.

Most furniture waste is not about one material. It is about pieces that are not built to survive, bought to be replaced. With more than a decade in the industry, across homes, designers and large-scale projects, we have learned that durability is the real measure of a responsible piece.

So we make fewer, better things. We would rather sell you one piece you keep for years than several you throw away. Everything below follows from that.

What we choose, and why

Materials with a long life ahead.

Our materials

Responsibly sourced wood

Solid timber, teak among it, chosen for density and longevity rather than the lowest cost. We build in real wood, not veneer over board, because a solid piece can be sanded and renewed for decades, kept rather than replaced.

Natural fibres

Rattan and cane, woven by hand. Renewable, fast-growing materials that bring warmth and lightness, and that can be rewoven rather than thrown away when a panel tires.

Honest textiles

Linen and natural-fibre weaves chosen to wear in, not wear out. Loose covers and renewable cushions where we can, so a sofa is refreshed over the years rather than retired.

Materials that renew

We favour finishes that can be refreshed and components that can be recycled at the end of a long life. Where a material can be sourced recycled or reclaimed without compromising the piece, we choose it.

The people behind it

Made by skilled hands.

Our pieces are made by experienced craftspeople in Indonesia and other countries. We work with makers we know and return to, people who care about joinery, weave and finish, and who are paid and treated as the skilled professionals they are. Good work, made by people who are looked after, is part of responsibility too.

About us
How we keep it responsible

Four things we hold to.

01

Made to last

The longest-lived piece is the most responsible one. We design for longevity first: sound proportion, solid construction, and timeless lines that do not date.

02

Made to be kept

Solid construction and finishes that can be renewed, so a piece only deepens with age. Furniture meant to stay with you for years, and to be passed on rather than replaced.

03

Made by skilled hands

We work with experienced craftspeople in Indonesia and other countries, makers who have spent years at the bench and are paid and treated as the skilled people they are.

04

Delivered once, properly

White-glove delivery, brought in, assembled and placed. Doing it right the first time means fewer damaged returns, less packaging, and less waste.

Honestly

No greenwashing, just choices.

We are not going to claim to be perfect, or hang our values on a logo. We do not buy certificates to put in a footer. What we can tell you is the truth of how we work: we choose materials that are responsibly sourced and built to age, we make pieces meant to be kept rather than replaced, and we make them with skilled people we trust.

We are always looking for the better choice, the material that lasts longer or wastes less. When we find one, we use it. That is the whole of it, and we think it is worth more than a badge.
